i'd like to welcome you, umak class of 2022,
to the next stage of your life as I am honored to share in the excitement of your graduation day.
This moment holds all the promises of a better and brighter future. You now have the courage to face what's ahead of you, but remember that you need more courage to truly grow up and become the person you are desired to be
Your graduation celebrates the fact that you are finally ready to go out and hopefully, euipped with your UMak education, make the world a better place. Keep in mind that as you step into the next stage of your life, education is also about understanding the opportunities that come our way. It is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world. But its power cannot be gauged without building on it to create a career and a life, and most importantly, to pave the way for a better future.
These past years have been very challenging but you kept your spirits up and made it through. Waking up early in the morning for online classes has all been worth it. Your perseverance, hard work, and strength of character have taken you to this moment. Start with really looking at yourself and doing an honest assessment of your capabilities. Unleash your true potential and you will discover you have the ability to do great things.
This is the very message of the theme for this graduation year, "Celebrating our Past, Igniting our Future". This year is especially meaningful as we are celebrating the 50th golden anniversarry of the university, adopting the same theme.
UMak has embodied this theme - starting with a vision that, even today, after 50 years, remains as relevant as ever. More than just looking back, celebrating our past means building on the past and unleashing a future with environment that you have burdied throughout the pandemic alongside your parents, teachers, and classmates, and thorught you to this important day.
As you cherish the fruits of your hard work, I wish that you will always be rewarded with success. I am sending blessings your way and may God always guide you in everything that you do. May you always shine bright in at your future endeavors as you propel confidently in the direction of your dreams. The future is yours. Go out and carve a niche for yourself. As a true-blooded Heron, spread your wings and soar high!
